Belarus closes oil pipeline to Europe (Poland and Germany affected)
Belarus has halted the shipment of Russian crude oil to Western Europe through a major pipeline across its territory, officials here and in Europe said yesterday.
The cutoff is the latest manifestation of rapidly deteriorating relations between Russia and Belarus. It follows accusations during the weekend by the head of Russia's oil pipeline monopoly that Belarus was illegally siphoning off oil.
