European Union Acknowledges Robustness of Mexican Economy
Slovakia, May 13 – During the 4th Latin American, Caribbean and European Union Summit (LACUE), Mexican President Vicente Fox attended a meeting with the Council of the European Union, during which Mexico’s leadership was acknowledged because of the robustness and results of its economy, which have made it one of the main destinations of investment in the region. Also mentioned were the efforts and progress achieved in the social programs developed by President Fox’s administration, particularly those designed to combat poverty.
At this meeting, attended by Wolfgang Schüssel, Austrian Chancellor; Tarja Jalonen, President of Finland; José Manauel Durao Barroso, President of the European Commission and Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the European Union, participants discussed the coincidences regarding the market economy with a human face, currently being developed by Mexico, which guarantees development and better living standards for Mexicans.
