Greece Bans Mobile Phones In School - by Komfie Manalo
Athens, Greece (AHN) - The education minister of Greece has ordered a ban on children using mobile phone while at school after a 16-year-old girl was raped during a school sit-in while fellow pupils videoed the criminal act on their mobiles. The new ruling said all senior students who will violate the ban will be expelled from the school. A recent study found that almost every Greek school student over the age of 15 owns a mobile phone. Students mostly use their handheld phone for listening music, sending text messages and playing games.
The gang rape of a 16-year-old Bulgarian girl on the island of Evia has forced the education ministry to decide that children should not be allowed to possess their precious status symbols.
