Airbus chief says A380 problems will be sorted out within months
LONDON: Airbus expects to solve problems that have delayed production of its A380 "superjumbo" aircraft in a matter of weeks or months, Dow Jones Newswires quoted Airbus Chief Executive Louis Gallois as saying Monday. Gallois visited the Airbus wing-producing factory in Broughton, Wales, as part of an announcement that the British government will put up half the cost of a 34 million pounds (€50 million; US$66 million) wing design program.
After concentrating massive resources on its flagship A380, Airbus has been outmaneuvered by Boeing's two-engine 787, which delivers better fuel economy than older four-engine Airbus jets in the same size category.
