No political entity has pushed harder for the Copenhagen conference on climate change to succeed than the European Union. But just days before the opening of the United Nations-sponsored meeting, the Europeans have been largely pushed to the sidelines, watching as the world's two largest emitters of greenhouse gases, China and the United States, seek to set the rules of the game.
Note EU-Digest: It is imperative that the EU, in cooperation with Russia, who signed the Kyoto agreement, and other allies, use every political and economic tool available to them to block China and the US in what is nothing else but an attempt to cover up their shortcomings and lack of having any serious climate policy programs, except for the ones they pulled out of their hats, only a few weeks before the Copenhagen conference started. Now is not the time to cave in Europe.
