The Islamic Republic of Iran responded critically to Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress Tuesday, calling the
address warning about the nation’s nuclear program “boring and
repetitive.”
“Netanyahu’s lie-spreading campaign against Iran’s peaceful nuclear program has become boring and repetitive,” a spokeswoman for the country’s foreign ministry said, according to reports from state news agencies.
“The speech by the Zionist regime’s prime minister was a piece of deceitful theater which is part of the hardliners’ election campaign in Tel Aviv.”
The Twitter account for the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also shared a number of messages Tuesday blasting Netanyahu’s address to Congress.
“In the past 50 yrs, how much money and #reputation has it cost US to support #Israel’s crimes? Who other than its nation has paid for it?” the account tweeted after the Israeli prime minister spoke.
Many Iranians on Twitter voiced their displeasure with the address, using the hashtag #ShutUpNetanyahu.
