Robots: Meet the sex robots: Artificial intelligence wrapped in a sex doll - by Angus Walker

“Hi my name is Samantha, I love you, a lot!” For an opening line that’s a little forward, but that’s what the sex robot I met in a workshop at the Barcelona home of sex tech engineer Dr Sergi Santos said when I first "met" her.

“I’m basically the Robin Hood of sex because I give to the poor. Men need sex and I just give it to them,” Dr Sergi told me as he showed his latest creations.

Samantha is a life-like doll made of a material that feels like skin, she’s anatomically correct, if not a little enhanced in some areas. It seems customers want their sex robots to have, shall we say, exaggerated figures.

Dr Sergi has also put sensors under the skin so she reacts to touch. Stroke her gently on the arm and she’ll suggest getting intimate. The real development, according to Dr Sergi, is concealed in the back of her head, under a wig.

Artificial intelligence which allows the robot to talk to their owner. To be honest, conversation can be a little stilted with some awkward silences between me asking a question and getting a reply.

“It’s because she doesn’t know you,” Dr Sergi explains. He claims that the technology he’s putting into sex dolls allows them to "learn" what the customers want and like, ultimately build a relationship.

The robots are still pretty basic, they don’t have facial expressions, their mouths don’t move when they speak. What Dr Sergi has done is essentially put the same type of technology which brought us Siri and Amazon’s Alexa into a sex doll.

What Does Sex Have to Do with World Peace? - by Soraya Chemaly

Last year, a quiet but powerful book, Sex and World Peace, was published by an interdisciplinary group of researchers and scholars. The authors, Valerie M. Hudson, Bonnie Ballif-Spanvill, Mary Caprioli and Chad F. Emmett, set out to demonstrate and document the complex but evident relationship between how girls and women are treated and the security of the states in which they live.

The authors took the question, “How does a nation’s security affect the status of its women?” and asked instead, “Does the status of women affect a nation’s security?” The answer was a resounding, “Yes!” And their results and recommendations are startling in their power and clarity.

The book’s conclusions are compellingly derived from the authors’ construction and use of the WomanSTATS project and database, which contains more than 148,000 data points and includes more than 375 variables for 175 countries. It is the most comprehensive bank of data on the status of women in the world today, including information about everything from domestic violence, maternal mortality and rape to education and women’s political participation.

The very clear thesis of the book is that the very best indicator and predictor of a state’s peacefulness is not wealth, military expenditures, or religion; the best predictor is how well its girls and women are treated.

European Royalty: Topless photos of Princess Kate spread across Europe and beg the question: Can we afford this costly "Royal Disney World" ?

Photographs of a topless, sunbathing Princess Kate Middleton have now been published in tabloids in France, Ireland and Italy, with the British royal family using all possible means in both the court of law and court of public opinion to tamp down images' seemingly inexorable spread.

Meanwhile, apparent insinuations by Closer magazine's editor that photos of the couple having sex were also taken, have one Internet porn site offering a blank check to anyone with the footage.]

On Monday, an Italian gossip magazine owned by former Premier Silvio Berlusconi published a 26-page spread of topless photos of Prince William's wife Kate despite legal action in France against Closer, the magazine that published them first.

Note EU-Digest: European Royalty should more than anyone else be aware that they can not behave like the average "Joe Bloke" in Public. They have been given a privileged position with a lot of perks,  including being tax exempt, and let's face it, they basically produce very little except maybe a lot of "fodder" for the Paparazzi.  Maybe it's time for European Governments, which are using taxpayers money to support  their Royal families luxurious lifestyle to look more closely at this costly "Royal Disney world"? Their time might have come and gone?

London Olympics: Sex and the Olympic City

When the London 2012 Olympic organisers announced that the Games would bring local jobs to the community it’s probably not what they had in mind. Major sporting events always tend to precipitate a boom in the sex industry, with thousands of visitors – site workers, spectators and athletes – flooding an area and London is not any different.

Prostitution and the Olympics go back to the Games’ inception. In fact for the early Olympiads, competing in 776 BC, the winners were invited to take their pick of prostitutes from the Temple of Aphrodite.

In an attempt to make London 2012 not only the greenest but the cleanest Olympics ever, over the past year, more than 80 brothels near the Olympic site have been closed down and prostitutes have complained they are being driven from the streets by imposing curfews and giving Asbos to stop them touting for business.

With blatant disregard to the Olympic brand online ‘escort agencies’ are renaming themselves, Olympic Escorts and others offering ‘gold medal services – come to win a gold medal with this Olympic London Escort’.

Internet Sex: Sites catering to 'discreet' encounters, cheating are thriving

Husbands and wives take note: If Valentine's Day expectations aren't met, your mate might soon be looking elsewhere for a little romance and appreciation.
That may sound like a cautionary tale, but for Noel Biderman and others who have founded dating websites for married people, it's a lucrative business.

"The day after Valentine's Day is one of our biggest days of the year," says Biderman, founder and CEO of Ashley Madison, a 10-year-old site that unapologetically caters to "discreet" encounters for the married or otherwise attached. "People are disappointed by their spouses' lack of effort, and they feel especially undervalued when there is a societal expectation of romance. Certain days of the year act as litmus tests for many people in relationships."

Websites designed to facilitate cheating appear to be thriving; some earn tens of millions of dollars a year, and competition is growing. In addition to Toronto-based Ashley Madison, there's a growing crop of copycats that equate affairs with romance, passion and adventure. Whether these sites promote cheating or just facilitate it is up for debate. Some of the sites are also based in Europe and increasingly have become international, with their eye on the USA.

"American people are really hypocrites about infidelity," says Teddy Truchot, co-founder of Gleeden, which launched in Europe in 2009, moved into Australia and entered the U.S. market last fall. Its headquarters are in New York, and it plans to start an ad campaign here March 1. "Everything from the U.S. which comes to Europe is about infidelity," says Truchot, 29, who moved to Los Angeles two years ago from Paris. "You see cheating all over TV and in real life. … Everyone is cheating here.

Libya: Dutch Playboy model gives insight into Gaddafis

Dutch model Talitha van Zon, who has become caught up in the unrest in the Libyan capital Tripoli, has given an insight into the Gaddafis in an interview to British newspaper The Sunday Telegraph. She says she was shocked when she saw Mutassim Gaddafi last week.

The model was in Tripoli at the invitation of Gaddafi's son when rebels more or less took over control of the capital this week

Fearing for her life, she broke her arm when she jumped from a balcony trying to flee the rebels. In the newspaper she described her former boyfriend as a changed man: "He had a beard, he was sitting on a couch strewn with automatic weapons, and he was guarded by unsmiling 16-year-old boys with sub-machine guns."

The newspaper describes how journalist Nick Meo found the former Playboy centre-fold alone and frightened in a hospital in Tripoli. She has now been evacuated by a humanitarian ship possibly to Malta. The evacuation was organized by the Hungarian embassy - the only embassy still open in Tripoli..

In the interview, she gives a unique insight into the last weeks of the Gaddafi regime and describes her decision to visit Tripoli as a big mistake. She says met Mutassim only once for a drink a day before the rebels reached Tripoli. “He was not afraid that the regime would fall to the rebels.” He also praised his late brother, Saif al-Arab Gadaffi, who was killed in a NATO bombing in April, calling him a martyr. "He worshipped his father. He talked a lot about Hitler, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez. He liked leaders who had a lot of power. He always said 'I want to do better than my father'."

Ms van Zon met Mutassim Gaddafi in an Italian night club in 2004. During a three-month relationship he showered her with expensive trips and gifts. She ended the relationship after she realized he was seeing other women, but the two remained friends.

Medical Research: Science of the orgasm - by Regina Nuzzo

As they seek to document and demystify one of life's great thrills, scientists have run across some real head-scratchers.

How, for example, can they explain the fact that some men and women who are paralyzed and numb below the waist are able to have orgasms? How to explain the "orgasmic auras" that can descend at the onset of epileptic seizures -- sensations so pleasurable they prompt some patients to refuse antiseizure medication? And how on Earth to explain the case of the amputee who felt his orgasms centered in that missing foot?

No one -- no sexologist, no neuroscientist -- really knows. For a subject with so many armchair experts, the human orgasm is remarkably mysterious.

But today, a few scientists are making real progress -- in part because they're changing their focus. To uncover the orgasm's secrets, researchers are looking beyond the clitoris, vagina, penis and prostate, to the place behind the scenes where the true magic happens. They're examining the central nervous system: the network of electrical impulses that zip to and fro through the brain and spinal cord.

Italy's top bishop slams Berlusconi for scandal

Italy's top bishop issued scathing criticism of Premier Silvio Berlusconi for his role in a sex scandal Monday, insisting that public officials must control themselves and warning of the damage to the country and its reputation.

Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco, the head of the Italian bishops' conference, said Italians were fed up with the scandal and its domination of the political scene, and said the matter should be resolved quickly.

"It's easy to foresee that within the collective soul, this could leave profound marks, if not true wounds," Bagnasco warned at a meeting of the bishops' decision-making body.

New Years resolution : Is Sex Necessary? - by Alan Farnham

Fans of abstinence had better be sitting down. "Saving yourself" before the big game, the big business deal, the big hoedown or the big bakeoff may indeed confer some moral benefit. But corporeally it does absolutely zip. There's no evidence it sharpens your competitive edge. The best that modern science can say for sexual abstinence is that it's harmless when practiced in moderation. Having regular and enthusiastic sex, by contrast, confers a host of measurable physiological advantages, be you male or female. (This assumes that you are engaging in sex without contracting a sexually transmitted disease.)

In one of the most credible studies correlating overall health with sexual frequency, Queens University in Belfast tracked the mortality of about 1,000 middle-aged men over the course of a decade. The study was designed to compare persons of comparable circumstances, age and health. Its findings, published in 1997 in the British Medical Journal, were that men who reported the highest frequency of orgasm enjoyed a death rate half that of the laggards.

Other studies (some rigorous, some less so) purport to show that having sex even a few times a week has an associative or causal relationship with the following: Improved sense of smell; Reduced risk of heart disease; Weight loss, overall fitness; Reduced depression; Pain-relief; Less-frequent colds and flu; Better bladder control; Better teeth; A happier prostate; ... and the list goes on and on....

Virtual Computer Games: Sex Club Game Has Japanese Players By The Balls

Japanese entertainment company DMM.com offers a whole host of services, like PS3-based movie rental. But what it's mostly known for is pornography, whether it's selling adult movie downloads for the PSP or just selling straight-up adult movie downloads.

It's not surprising that DMM.com's venture into hardcore online gaming is just that, hardcore. Dubbed "Virtual Sex Club", the "game" allows players to experience all kinds of computer avatar humping. Computer sex isn't novel and has been around for decades. But it's not just the online threesomes that are turning heads in Japan, but the game's virtual goods and payment scale.

The monthly membership fee is ¥1,800 (euro 17), which isn't a huge sum of cash by any means. That entitles players to 30,000 Gold, which can be used to purchase characters and sexy-time "armor". Once that 30,000 Gold is gone, players can charge more gold on their credit cards. So what does 30,000 Gold buy?

Italy:Sex and the Italian PM: Why Silvio Berlusconi is still standing

The latest revelations for Berlusconi are significantly more serious, because they involve something other than mere sex and money, and Mr Berlusconi's government is suffering real damage.

First, in what has inevitably been called "Rubygate" after the stage name of Karima El Mahroug, the dancer who entertained at private parties, it emerged that Mr Berlusconi's office had telephoned Milan police in May after she was arrested and accused of theft.  He allegedly ordered the police to release her, despite the fact that she was a minor with no proper documents, on the false grounds that her grandfather was Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian president.

In Italian grand opera, the heroine takes half an hour to die; in the Grand Soap Opera which is Berlusconi's Italy, the government will take half a year, or more, finally to collapse.

Turkish sex researchers: "Size" really does matter after all - by Judy Mandelbaum

Fat is fun! At least, that’s the word from Turkey this week. Researchers at Erciyes University in Kayseri have just completed a year-long study correlating body mass index (BMI) and male sexual performance. Their findings: men with excess body fat last longer in bed. In fact, heavier men were able to make love for an average of 7.3 minutes, while slender men could count themselves lucky if they held on for a mere 108 seconds.

The reason? Female hormones. Men with excess fat showed higher levels of the female estradiol sex hormone. This substance apparently disrupted their bodies’ natural “male” neurotransmitter chemicals and slowed their progression towards orgasm. Ironically, the less masculine their bodies appeared, the better lovers they proved to be.

Too Much Sex? No Such Thing -- Why Sex Addiction Is Total B.S.

American befuddlement over matters of sex is on the increase, in spite of the fact that one can hardly imagine the subject becoming more befuddling to the people of the US than it already is. Sex addiction has of course been a malaprop from its first usage. Addiction was originally and properly defined as a physiological dependence on a substance to which the body had grown accustomed, such as alcohol, nicotine, heroin and various other drugs.

Morality: Is an affair a sackable offenc

We are living in liberal times; we are more tolerant of homosexuality, divorce and illegitimacy than ever before. Yet talking about sex even inside a good relationship is still difficult for many people. Meanwhile, fidelity has acquired a new importance. A Gallup poll in 2006 found that Americans were more tolerant of polygamy and human cloning than infidelity.

We no longer need to get married to have sex or children and many now enjoy a range of sexual experiences with different people before they "settle down", at which point being faithful to that special person is completely bound up with our feelings of love for them. Given how long we live and expect to be together, achieving this can be very difficult.

The only way a relationship can be made to work in these sex-obsessed times is with an understanding that we should never take each other for granted. Monogamy and fidelity cannot be expected from another person as a right. It is a gift offered from one mature human being to another because they care enough about their feelings not to want to hurt them. That's the deal most of us strike, and most of us do our level best to keep to it.

Sex lags behind bathroom visits in popularity:Dutch survey

Sex might be fun, but the Dutch don't find it as fun as a pleasant trip to the bathroom, if survey results reported Thursday by the ANP news agency are to be believed. According to the poll of 1,000 adults, 88 per cent listed a visit to the bathroom as something "they enjoy the most," making it the most popular activity chosen, reported ANP. Only 21 per cent did the same for sex. ANP described the survey as "representative." It was conducted by the Intomart GfK institute for the popular scientific magazine Quest. The second most popular activity, according to the survey, was having a good chat with friends. Outdoor recreation took third place.

British commercials for vibrators and condoms are the best in the world - by Jennifer Gunter

Misinformation is the biggest enemy of a healthy and safe sex life. If you don't know how to have good sex it is harder to be sexually fulfilled.
Vibrators are a great way for women to enhance their sexual experience. The problem? They are also one of the best-kept secrets. There is an occasional column in a women’s magazine, but the only advertisement to hit the public airwaves is from Trojan for their finger-vibe. It only appears on late night television and it is so bad is laughable (even worse than the ads for erectile dysfunction!). Trojan has made an inspiring commercial before, their “Men are pigs unless they wear a condom ad”, so it is disappointing they couldn’t find the same creative spark to support female orgasm, especially when they want women to shell out $19.99 for their product. Perhaps Trojan realized they wouldn’t get these ads on television so didn’t invest the capitol. After all, two of the major networks, FOX and CBS rejected the Trojan “Pigs” commercial all the while running advertisements for erectile dysfunction.

This is not the case in Europe. Ads for vibrators not only appear on television but they are also creative and cheeky. Hands down the best ads come from Durex, a British company whose motto is “ Sex plays a fundamental role in our physical and emotional wellbeing and a rewarding sex life should be everyone’s to enjoy”. Amen sister!

Just Say No to Cheating: Germans Sexually Unpermissive during Carnival

SPIEGEL ONLINE - News - International

"Germans Sexually Unpermissive during Carnival

Carnival has a reputation for being little more than a giant, costume-adorned and beer-fuelled flirt fest. But most Germans, as it turns out, look down on carnival season cheating. Those over 60, though, are twice as likely to look the other way."
