Products promoting the far-right conspiracy theory QAnon will no longer be permitted on eBay’s site, the company said on Friday evening, after rioters carrying markers of the group stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday.
A search on eBay currently reveals about 4,000 products, including hats, T-shirts, sweatshirts and stickers tied to QAnon, which, among other theories, asserts that President Trump is being undermined by a cult of Satan worshippers. For instance, there’s a pack of stickers selling for $22 that has a Q emblazoned on the front and is advertised as a way to show support for the president’s failed 2020 re-election bid. Its seller policy prohibits “listings that promote or glorify hatred, violence, or discrimination.”

Over 30 years ago, President Ronald Reagan and I signed in Washington
the United States-Soviet Treaty on the elimination of intermediate- and
shorter-range missiles. For the first time in history, two classes of
nuclear weapons were to be eliminated and destroyed.
This
was a first step. It was followed in 1991 by the Strategic Arms
Reduction Treaty, which the Soviet Union signed with President George
H.W. Bush, our agreement on radical cuts in tactical nuclear arms, and
the New Start Treaty, signed by the presidents of Russia and the United States in 2010.
There
are still too many nuclear weapons in the world, but the American and
Russian arsenals are now a fraction of what they were during the Cold
War. At the Nuclear Nonproliferation Review Conference in 2015, Russia
and the United States reported to the international community that 85
percent of those arsenals had been decommissioned and, for the most
part, destroyed.
Today, this tremendous accomplishment, of which our two nations can be rightfully proud, is in jeopardy. President Trump announced last week
the United States’ plan to withdraw from the Intermediate-range Nuclear
Forces Treaty and his country’s intention to build up nuclear arms.

But doesn't this statement, made by the US President, that he is planning to get out of the United States-Soviet Treaty on the elimination of intermediate-and
shorter-range missiles, includes more than just what meets the naked eye?
Couldn't it also be an indication for Europe, that the US, by giving up this treaty, which mainly concerns intermediate and shorter-range missiles, also means an immediate danger to the EU, and that it once again shows the Trump Administration's total disdain with, and disrespect for the EU?
The EU Commission, EU Parliament and EU Member States better wake up to the fact that there is something "Rotten in Denmark", when it comes to this recent announcement by Donald Trump
It could very well be that during the two hour Helsinki meeting between Putin and Trump, earlier in the year, a scenario and strategy was also discussed to dismantle the EU. After all, there were no details given about the topics discussed, following the meeting of the two world leaders.
The announcement by the Trump Administration to get out of the United States-Soviet Treaty on the elimination of intermediate- and
shorter-range missiles, could therefore, possibly, also be seen as the implementation of a strategy discussed at the Helsinki meeting between the Russian and US leaders.
Bottom-line - the EU better adhere to the saying: "Forewarned is fore armed" , and not fall asleep on this issue.

The Saudi government had no immediate response to Israeli Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz's remarks. A spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also did not respond immediately to a request to comment.
Both Saudi Arabia and Israel view Iran as a main threat to the Middle East and increased tension between Tehran and Riyadh has fuelled speculation that shared interests may push Saudi Arabia and Israel to work together.
Saudi Arabia maintains that any relations with Israel hinge on Israeli withdrawal from Arab lands captured in the 1967 Middle East war, territory Palestinians seek for a future state.
US President Donald Trump's peace envoys, seeking an Israeli-Palestinian agreement with regional support, have visited Saudi Arabia several times since he took office.

France: Champs-Elysées terror shooting impact on the French election? Could LePen Presidency increase terrorism?

The news that a policeman had been shot dead on the famous Champs-Elysées avenue broke as the 11 presidential candidates were appearing live on TV in a show dubbed “15 minutes to convince” France.
The far-right Marine Le Pen had not long finished her 15-minute slot when it became clear that France had been hit by another jihadist attack against its forces of law and order. An attack quickly claimed by terror group Isis.
Authorities had long feared an Isis-inspired or organised attack in the run-up to the election, as it would represent not just a symbolic attack on democracy, but also a chance to perhaps influence the result to their liking, with a victory for Le Pen fitting in with their desire to divide France's communities.
Hence the reason the government extended the state of emergency to cover the campaign.
The immediate impact of Thursday night's attack saw Marine Le Pen, François Fillon and Emmanuel Macron announce they were suspending their campaigns. They all cancelled meetings on Friday, the last official day of campaigning.
Although events have been cancelled the candidates haven’t quite gone quiet.
Marine Le Pen, who has seen her campaign tail off in recent weeks launched an attack on previous governments.
Mrs. Le Pen, however, has several major supporters in Europe and the US, including President Putin and President Trump
Marine Le Penn went to Russia only recently and met with President Putin and has often also praised President Trump on his foreign and immigrant policies.
Yesterday, right after the attack in Paris, Mr. Trump went live on US TV and deplored not only the attack in Franc, but also indirectly mingled in French politics, supporting Marine Le Penn by saying that the attack will have a "big impact" on the polls in France, as they relate to the Sunday Presidential elections there.
Unfortunately, US president Donald Trump, whose own populist victory was celebrated by Marine Le Pen, used this deplorable attack in France to once again show his loyalty to fellow populist right-wing nationalist politicians in Europe - just as he had done earlier in the week, after the contested Turkish Referendum, by congratulating Turkish "strongman" Erdogan with his so-called victory.
Even though the Paris Champs-Elysées terrorist carried a note on himself showing support for ISIS, one can only hope that the French criminal investigators will scrupulously investigate this case to eliminate all possible doubts, as to the motives of this attack, so close to the French Presidential elections

The most prominent supporters of Brexit promised they will make “great deals” on Britain’s behalf.

Brexit also encourages others to follow Britain’s lead, threatening the noble project of European integration that arguably begun after the defeat of Napoleon.
In next to no time, xenophobia has begun to run rampant in the UK. Racism has become respectable.
It manifests itself viciously even against people with British passports who were born in the country, but look different than the majority of the people. They may have Pakistani roots or Indian ones.
If they have been successful in their careers, they are now confronted with sentiments that they achieved their success only by pushing “proper” Brits to the side.
It has become acceptable to tell long-established British citizens, “It’s time for you to leave.”
The proponents of Brexit played to the same fears and exploited the same sense of desperation that have, since time immemorial, been the bread and butter of demagogues large and small.
All of this seems increasingly like the precursor of what may lie ahead for the United States under Trump. He surely leads the fight to make the country “great again,” but even he must know that he cannot deliver on almost any of his promises.
Brexit, like Trump, is the harvest of the persistent seeds of racism, planted in ground plowed by fear, and watered by greed.

It's as if suddenly the backroom boys and girls whose job it is to keep our financial system sound have come out of the phone booth dressed as Superman. Or, depending on how their announcements affected you, a super villain like Dr. Destructo.
In the financial pages, of course, central bankers have always made news. But even there, the role has been more that of a quiet aristocracy or high priesthood, murmuring riddles that their acolytes in the business press interpret for the adept.
An exception to that rule was Mark Carney, who with his media friendly looks and charm, risked making Canadian and then British monetary policy — after he moved to the Bank of England — glamorous. Of course everyone in the central banking brotherhood quickly learned the disadvantages of that once he became perilously close to turning himself and his family into a page one tabloid star.

In a rerun of previous failed efforts at bridging sectarian and ethnic divisions, Shi'ite, Sunni and Kurdish leaders met behind closed doors and then stood frostily before cameras as Maliki's Shi'ite predecessor Ibrahim al-Jaafari read a statement denouncing "terrorist powers" and supporting Iraqi sovereignty.
U.S. President Barack Obama is considering military options to push back al Qaeda splinter group the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which has swept the Sunni north of the country over the past week as the Shi'ite-led army has crumbled.
But in return Washington want Maliki to do more to address the widespread sense of political exclusion among minority Sunnis which ISIL has exploited to win support among tribal leaders and former followers of ousted dictator Saddam Hussein.

Europe’s leaders face post-holiday blues (says US Media) - by Barry Hatton
US corporate media continues to hammer Europe as it reports:
"The latest economic figures show that Europe is edging closer to recession, dragged down by the crippling debt problems of the 17 countries that use the euro.
These debt troubles have tormented the eurozone for close to three years and have defied leaders’ efforts to fix them. And the longer they take to resolve, the bigger they get."
Leaders from France, Germany, and Greece meet later on this week in the latest round of shuttle diplomacy to attempt to put a lid on the eurozone’s debt crisis.
Six eurozone countries — Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, and Malta — are in recession and others look feeble.
Europe’s stumbling economy is hurting recovery in other parts of the world. The European Union recorded a gross domestic product last year of $15.5 trillion — slightly more than the US output. It is also a major source of sales for the world’s leading companies. Any further economic problems would be felt in order books back in the United States and China.
Forty percent of McDonald’s global revenue comes from Europe — more than it generates in the United States. The company reported a 0.6 percent slump in meals served in Europe last month. Ford Motor Co. warned last week that auto industry sales in the region through July were the lowest in 17 years."

Remember the vast right-wing conspiracy? It’s ba-a-a-ck, turning its considerable resources to ruining health care reform and wrecking legislation aimed at curbing climate change. Despite the insistence of Republican leaders that the tea-party crowd and the town-hall protesters are merely concerned individuals who have spontaneously made the decision to shout and yell threats at public meetings, the protests are, in fact, prodded by networks of conservative activists. Richard Mellon Scaife, a Pittsburg billionaire who is the financial lifeblood of ultra-conservative activism, is a contributor, according to The Washington Post.
Ideologues like DeMint and Newt Gingrich have made it pretty clear that they’re not interested in finding the best approach on public policy or in helping Americans cope with skyrocketing health care costs. They just want to win political battles. Some of the conservatives arrayed against Obama represent corporate interests. Armey’s FreedomWorks, for example, is funded by companies such as Philip Morris, which has fought government regulations on smoking for years now.
A conservative advocacy group called Americans for Prosperity, long known for denying the scientific findings on climate change, has started an offshoot called Patients First to fight health care reform. The Post reports that it receives funding from the Koch Foundation, affiliated with a huge Kansas-based oil-and-gas conglomerate called Koch Industries. (Koch owns Georgia Pacific.) The Koch Foundation undoubtedly believes that slowing Obama down on health care reform will help to defeat his energy bill, which aims to curb carbon emissions and would affect Koch’s businesses.

In 1999, George W. Bush was asked in an interview: "Can you name the general who's in charge of Pakistan?" The Republican presidential candidate demurred: "Wait, wait. Is this 50 questions?" Pressed for an answer, he couldn't come up with the name but offered this gem: "The Pakistani general, he's just been elected, not elected, this guy took over office. It appears this guy is going to bring stability to the country and I think that's good news for the subcontinent." Bush now knows Pervez Musharraf well. But his assessment of "this guy" as the font of "stability" and "good news" hasn't changed all that much. Bush, however, is not the only one living in the kingdom of clichés.
EU-Digest: The Pakistan interior ministry said Bhutto had no gunshot or shrapnel wounds. He said the opposition leader died after smashing her head on her car's sunroof as she tried to duck. He also blamed Al-Qaeda, saying intelligence services had intercepted a call from Baitullah Mehsud, considered the extremist group's top leader for Pakistan, congratulating a militant for Bhutto's death. Senior members of Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) dismissed the government's version of events as "lies". "There was a bullet wound I saw that went in from the back of her head and came out the other side," Bhutto's spokeswoman Sherry Rehman, who was involved in washing her body for burial, told AFP. "This is ridiculous, dangerous nonsense because it is a cover-up of what actually happened," said Rehman. Maulana Omar, a spokesman for alleged Al-Qaeda kingpin Mehsud, also denied involvement in the attack and expressed grief over Bhutto's death. "This is a conspiracy of the government, army and intelligence agencies," said the spokesman from Waziristan, a lawless tribal region where Al-Qaeda leaders, including possibly Osama bin Laden, are alleged to be hiding. In the US leading democratic candidate Hillary Clinton called for an independent, international probe into Bhutto's murder, saying Musharraf's government has no credibility. "I think it's critically important that we get answers and really those are due first and foremost to the people of Pakistan," Clinton said. In Europe there also is a call to break off diplomatic and economic relations with the Musharraf government until they return to the barracks and handover the leadership to a caretaker government which can prepare fair and honest elections.
