German Exports Rise In March, Foreign Trade Surplus Narrows
(RTTNews) - Government data indicating a rise in German exports should come as breather to the European economy, which raised doubts, in the backdrop of a fall in German industrial output, regarding a possible rate hike by the European Central Bank (ECB | in the next rate-setting session. Germany's exports rose 18.1% year-on-year, while imports climbed 28.3% in the month of March, the provisional data from the German Federal Statistical Office indicated Wednesday. After calendar and seasonal adjustments, exports declined on a month-on-month basis 3.2 %, while imports fell 1.6%.
