Passenger Traffic in Europe Increases
LONDON — Several European airlines said Thursday that passenger numbers rose in November as consumers took advantage of price competition in a tough market. Air France-KLM, Europe's biggest airline, said it handled 5.7 million passengers, an increase of 4.1 percent compared with November 2005.
The load factor or the amount of passenger and cargo capacity used slipped 0.1 percentage point to 78.5 percent. Europe's second-largest discount airline easyJet PLC said passenger numbers rose 11 percent to about 2.3 million. Its load factor gained 0.4 percentage point to 80.5 percent.
