Russians to mourn victims of fatal accidents - by Emma Griffiths
The Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared today Wednesday a national day of mourning for the victims of three deadly accidents that have hit the country since Saturday. On Saturday a plane crashed on landing in southern Russia killing seven and injuring 50. On Monday an explosion tore through a Siberian coal mine killing at least 106 miners. And on Monday night a fire in a nursing home left another 62 Russians dead. Inquiries have been opened into all three accidents, and it is likely that the causes will include human error and negligence.
Russians will officially mourn the victims on Wednesday when flags will be flown at half mast across the country.
