Dollar sets new lows as China cheers risk appetite
he U.S. dollar remained under pressure on foreign-exchange markets Friday, slipping to new lows after another round of surprisingly strong Chinese economic data further boosted investors' appetite for riskier assets. The dollar index /quotes/comstock/11j!i:dxy0 (DXY 76.66, -0.16, -0.21%) , a measure of the greenback against a trade-weighted basket of currencies, stood lately at 76.588, down from 76.824 in North American trading Thursday afternoon. It had tumbled to 76.510 in Asian action, its lowest level since September 2008. All told, the index was down around 2% for the week, according to FactSet Research.
