The Iowa Republican caucuses' results were tallied Tuesday night and with over 120,000 votes cast statewide, Mitt Romney won by eight votes-that's right, he lead the pack by, yep count them, eight whole votes.
Former Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum capped a two week surge in polling by basically tying Romney in the voting. He ran a strong grassroots operation that included campaigning in each of Iowa's 99 counties. Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who drew his strength from tea party loyalists and new voters under 30 years of age, came in a close third.
So nobody really won on Tuesday — instead, the top candidates just survived to move on to the New Hampshire Primary next Tuesday.
