Thousands have been evacuated from their homes by authorities in France and Spain. More than 1,200 firefighters are deployed in Gironde, a prefecture in Bordeaux, France. Thousands of hectares have burned in Portugal.
Two huge blazes have burned their way through pine forests for six days just south of the city of Bordeaux in southwestern France. The fires have forced the evacuation of some 14,000 people, including many who were on holiday in the area.
Firefighters in Spain were supported by the armed forces' emergency brigades in trying to extinguish more than 30 fires consuming forests across the country.

Netherlands heatwawave:Holland to Introduce Orange Weather Alert on Tuesday Due to Heatwave
msterdam- The Netherlands will issue an orange weather alert code due to a heatwave on July 19, the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute said on Monday.
“Tomorrow, Tuesday, July 19, the weather will be very hot. An orange weather code will be introduced throughout the centre and south of the country due to high temperatures,” the Dutch national weather forecasting service said on Twitter.
Temperature in the Netherlands is expected to reach up to 38-39 degrees Celsius, according to the weather service.

Spring has come early to the Netherlands. With a sunny weekend behind
us, it looks as though the good weather won’t let up for the next few
days. Some Dutch weather records might even be broken, with forecasts predicting temperatures in the vicinity of 20C.
The southeast of the country can count on the highest temperatures these coming few days. If temperatures do reach 20C, the weather record of the fewest days since it was last 20C, could be broken. The record now stands at 134 days between October 26, 2013 and March 9, 2014. It would also be one of the few years that such high temperatures have been measured this early on in the year. The record for the earliest date in the year that it reached 20C belongs to 1990, when temperatures hit 20,4C in South Limburg on February 24.

The national hot weather plan has come into force in the southern half of the country as temperatures are expected to top 30 degrees again on Monday.
The national meteorological service KNMI has issued yellow alert warnings and expects to declare a heatwave by the end of Monday. A heatwave is defined as five consecutive days above 25C including three on which the temperature exceeds 30C.
The hot weather plan has been activated by the public health service RIVM in seven provinces: Utrecht, Overijssel, Gelderland, Zuid-Holland, Limburg, Noord-Brabant and Zeeland. It was brought in to focus attention on people who are vulnerable to extreme temperatures, such as the elderly, those in institutional care and people with long-term health problems.
General advice includes drinking more fluids, wearing thin, loose-fitting clothing and keeping activity to a minimum in the middle of the day. People are also advised to apply plenty of sunscreen and keep in the shade as much as possible. The official temperature at De Bilt will need to rise above 30C on Monday for a heatwave to be confirmed.
It will be the first official heatwave since 2015 and the ninth since the turn of the century. In the whole of the 20th century there were 15 heatwaves, but between 1948 and 1975 not one was recorded.

Germany is hurtling towards the hottest point of the year this weekend, national weather service the DWD said on Thursday. With highs of nearly 40C, experts are warning everyone to take care.
On Saturday and Sunday Germany will have a fever,” said Andreas Friedrich, spokesman from the DWD. Temperatures will build over Thursday and Friday, before in places hitting around 39C. Behind the extreme weather is a high pressure system from northern Africa.
After seeing off residual cloud cover from Thursday in the north, the whole of the country will be looking up at blue skies on Friday. Aside from along the Baltic coast and in higher parts of mountainous regions, temperatures will be over 30C. In the Upper Rhine area they will likely hit 35C.

After a washout summer in 2012 and the coldest spring for over 50 years, temperatures have soared across the country due to a northward shift in the high-altitude jetstream, prompting several authorities to issue public warnings over the heat.
Figures released by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine on Thursday estimated about 650 people may have died prematurely due to the heat over the past nine days, producing data based on deaths during previous heatwaves.
"The excess is likely to have been overwhelmingly among the elderly, especially those over 75, some of which may have been among people who would have died just a few weeks later if there had been no heatwave," Ben Armstrong, an epidemiological statistician, told Reuters.
The research followed warnings from police about taking excessive risks to escape the heat after four people died in separate incidents on Wednesday.
