Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he instructed the foreign minister to declare 10 ambassadors, including Washington’s envoy, ‘persona non grata’ over a rare joint statement urging release of a jailed opposition figure.
“I gave the necessary instructions to our foreign minister, I said that you will handle the denunciation of the 10 ambassadors as soon as possible,” Erdogan said.

The greatest threat to America? Republicans - by Paul Thomas
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz called it "the darkest 24 hours in our nation's history". Was he referring to:
• The outbreak of the Civil War.
• The assassination of Abraham Lincoln or John Kennedy or Martin Luther King.
• The 1929 Wall St crash.
• Pearl Harbour.
• 9/11.
• The realization that the immensely costly and destructive Iraq War was launched on the basis of a lie.
None of the above: according to Cruz, America's darkest day was when the Supreme Court decided not to overturn the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, and ruled that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. Thus the extension of health insurance, previously the preserve of the rich, and marriage, previously the preserve of the straight, is worse than war, depression, assassination and mass murder.
And what does fellow Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee believe will "bring death to America":
• Bird flu.
• Climate change.
• Isis.
• North Korean nuclear missiles.
• Obesity.
• Psychopathic gunmen wrapped in the Confederate flag.
Again, none of the above: Huckabee was referring to the just-announced nuclear deal with Iran. He wasn't alone. It appears all 17 Republican presidential hopefuls believe the treaty painstakingly negotiated by the US, Russia, China, Britain and France is not merely not worth the paper it's written on, it's positively catastrophic.
It will - Huckabee again - "wipe Israel off the map". It's worth pointing out that Israel, itself often accused of being a terrorist state, has a nuclear arsenal whereas Iran doesn't and, by virtue of this treaty, won't have for at least a decade.
So apart from bringing death to America and Israel, are there any other flaws? You bet: it will lead to widespread war in the Middle East.
Fittingly, given that the Republicans are now essentially a party of religious fundamentalism, their candidates are partly taking their lead from Zionist Israel and Wahhabist Saudi Arabia who are terrified - hopefully with good reason - that the Iran deal foreshadows a seismic realignment which reduces their malign influence on US Middle East policy.
But their kneejerk denunciations also signal a frightening abandonment of diplomacy as a means of defusing tension, avoiding conflict and managing international affairs. The mindset seems to be that diplomacy should be reserved for friendly nations with whom you have interests in common. That they remain disposed towards armed intervention which has accelerated rather than suppressed Islamic militancy shouldn't come as a surprise since persisting with policies that achieve the exact opposite of what was intended is something of an American speciality.
The takeover of American conservatism by evangelical Christianity, Fox News and a handful of shadowy billionaires has transformed the Republicans into the party of wilful ignorance: doctrinal purity is more valued than intelligence; tolerance has been supplanted by persecutory moralising; paranoia has replaced realism.

Russia: Agriculture watchdog bans seafood imports from Denmark, Canada, and New Zealand
Russian agriculture watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor has banned seafood imports from companies in Denmark, Canada and New Zealand.
In Denmark the ban concerns Akamalik (Royal Greenland A/S). Lab tests on prawns from this company revealed repeated cases of E.coli.
Prawns from Canada's Clearwater Ocean Prawns Venture were also banned due to E.coli.
Restrictions were also imposed on products from New Zealand's PH1 (Talley's Group Limited). E.coli was found in mussels from this company.

World's Happiest Countries: Australia Tops OECD Better Life Index and Turkey lowest- by Andy Reinhard
The Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is the latest institution to jump into the happiness-rating business with its new Better Life Initiative, a detailed survey of 24 indicators in 11 categories--ranging from civic engagement to environmental quality--across its 34 member states plus Brazil and Russia.
When all of the categories are weighted equally, the top-performing country in the world is Australia, cited for its strong community spirit and high level of life satisfaction. The lowest-ranked country among those studied was Turkey, whose weak scores on the same two criteria dragged it below Mexico, Chile, and Brazil. The US placed 3rd after Norway.
The OECD emphasizes on its Better Life Initiative web site that the rankings aren't absolute: By changing weightings on the criteria--say, to emphasize education or housing--users can alter the overall country scores according to their areas of interest.

Sick American scientist successfully evacuated from Antarctica by Airbus A-319 landing on Ice
The A319 Airbus from the Australian Antarctic Division research programme began its five-hour journey from New Zealand on Wednesday and made a landing on an ice runway known as Pegasus, near the McMurdo station where the scientist was based.
The rescue flight was flown into Antarctica under risky weather conditions with temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius. Flights to Antarctica are usually only made in the summer but the National Science Foundation (NSF) said the patient, who is a member of one of its projects, may require “immediate corrective surgery.” NSF also said they were unable to reveal any details about the scientist’s name, gender, age or illness due to privacy reasons.

Study shows our planet faces great glacier meltdown by 2100
A fifth of the ice in the world's mountain glaciers and ice caps will disappear by 2100, with some regions losing as much as 75 per cent of their ice, according to an international study.
In the most detailed assessment yet of glaciers, which are often described as the world's water towers, the study found the European Alps, as well as New Zealand, could lose three quarters of their ice by the end of the century, while high mountainous regions in Asia may lose 10 per cent
.
In Western Canada and the United States, 50 per cent of glacier ice could disappear by 2100, which could have substantial impacts on regional power dams and water supplies.

Food Industry: - New Zealand - Pesticide Residues In Food : Worst Ever
The Food Safety Authority's latest pesticide residue results are a nightmare: they are the worst results I have ever seen," said Dr Meriel Watts of Pesticide Action Network Aotearoa New Zealand.
"For a start, fully 94% of the samples of fruit and vegetables contained residues - including all of the oranges, grapes, bok choi, and nectarines. Then there are endosulfan residues in 11 out of 23 cucumber samples: either this is illegal use of a banned insecticide or the cucumbers have been imported from Australia. And 9 out of 24 bok and pak choi samples contained illegal levels of chlorothalonil."
Endosulfan is a highly toxic organochlorine insecticide that has been banned in at least 65 countries, the most recent being USA and Brazil.
