A former Israeli space security chief has claimed that aliens exist and that his country and the United States have been dealing with them for years, reported The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.
Haim Eshed, the former head of Israel’s Defense Ministry’s space directorate, said in an interview with Yediot Aharonot, a Hebrew newspaper, that humans have been in contact with the aliens from a “galactic federation”. He said that the extraterrestrial beings had asked them not to reveal that they were here because it would lead to public hysteria. They felt that humanity needed to “evolve and reach a stage where we will... understand what space and spaceships are,” the former space security chief said.

Susan Desmond-Hellmann has a unique set of experiences. Until
February, she was the CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation,
where part of her job was thinking up new ways to battle infectious
disease. Before that, she was the chancellor of the University of
California, San Francisco.
In the 2000s, she was one of the most prominent people in the pharmaceutical industry, running drug development at Genentech during its time as one of the most closely watched biotechnology companies.

USA: Airports warn of chaos with looming Real ID license deadline
The nation's airports are warning of chaos for passengers if the White House doesn't postpone the looming Real ID deadline.
The law requires airline passengers to present a Real ID-compliant driver's license or ID card at Transportation Security Administration checkpoints in airports as of Oct. 1. Those licenses require more proof of identification than regular licenses and are generally marked with a star on the top.
But while states have already issued 95 million Real IDs, that represents just 34 percent of the total, leaving two-thirds of the country with about seven months to get them if they hope to use a license to board a plane.
Without a Real ID, airline passengers will be required to present a passport, military ID or Global Entry card to pass through security, even for domestic flights.
Note EU-Digest: this alarm and warning for chaos is totally overdrawn. Whoever travels by plane and carries no proper ID must be completely out of his or her mind, given the fact that a valid ID is usually required at check-in to get your ticket, and also given the fact that most travelers on planes are aware they need to have the proper ID because of security reasons. Everywhere else in the world you have to show not only your ticket, but also a valid ID before boarding a plane.

Climate scientists, biologists, engineers and others with expertise
have been speaking and writing about our changing planet for a long
time. My own work has focused on how we'll figure out a way to come to
terms with billions more people, limited resources and more extreme
extremes. Droughts will be worse. Floods more severe. Storms
increasingly intense.
I've often felt like a modern Cassandra, writing and speaking about the dramatic and unprecedented planetary shifts taking place due to short-sighted policy choices. Deforestation, the burning of fossil fuels, and the ways we use water and produce food inevitably do take a toll on the environment, our health and security. As a marine scientist, I observed firsthand how the pH of oceans has been changing along urban coasts in a process called acidification due to excess emissions.
The evidence of climate change has been all around us for a long time. Protecting people and Earth's co-inhabitants from its most devastating impacts will require institutional reckoning and action.
Doomsday scenarios may generate clicks and sell advertisements, but they always fail to convey that science is nuanced. Arbitrary "time left to apocalypse" predictions are not evidence based and the story of climate change doesn't fit neatly into brief bullet points competing for your attention in today's saturated media environment. Stoking panic and fear offers a false narrative that can overwhelm readers, leading to inaction and hopelessness.
When I worked on Capitol Hill 13 years ago, I faced a cacophony of staffers and lawmakers choosing inaction on the assumption that climate change wasn't real. Today many of the same people point to the dire predictions dominating the news and shrug off better policies with the excuse that the world is ending anyway.
If history teaches us anything, it's that humans have a penchant for anticipating our End Times. Ancient mythologies from cultures all around the world describe catastrophic floods and religious cults continue to recruit followers with predictions of death by comet or solar flare.
Earth isn't ending in 12 years. It didn't end at Y2K or when the Mayan calendar predicted the collapse of civilization in 2012.
Earth, as a whole, will be okay—for at least another few billion years. What's less settled is how humans and the rest of biodiversity on the planet will fare in the decades and centuries to come. That's up to us and I hope we work to highlight hope over Armageddon.
The world will end one day, but not today. And not tomorrow. And not in 2030. Earth will continue to change, but we're not necessarily doomed. Yet.

USA Fort Lauderdale, Lone disturbed gun-man kills and causes panic and chaos at Fort Lauderdale airport - by RM

The chaos, panic and disorganization which manifested itself at Fort Lauderdale Airport during and following the shooting was quite unreal .
People were running all over the place as were the large numbers of police and security forces, who seemed to be falling over each other, running in different direction.
For some reason it did not look as if there was some central control keeping it all together.
Much later many passengers were still pacing the tarmac and the curb of the terminal. By then it had been more than 10 hrs. after the first shots were fired by the gun-man.
At the time of this writing many planes are still lined up on the runway, many with passengers still sitting in them. Several medical emergencies were also reported as some of the passengers sitting in these planes became unwell being in closed quarters for such a long time.
It also has to be brought-up that tragic events like this often are also the result of the very limited restrictions there on buying guns in America.
The NRA which is supported by many Democrats and Republicans alike in Congress can and should also indirectly be blamed for many of the killings in the US, including this one in Fort Lauderdale.
Allowing mentally disturbed people, including the one in Fort Lauderdale who went on a killing spree, to not only freely being able to buy a gun, but also to carry it in his bag on an aircraft is really irresponsible and criminal.
When will the US Congress finally show the guts to legislate some serious gun control measures and laws to avoid having these massacres happen over and over again?

Even as Donald Trump remains personally impervious to growing panic about a clear lack of any general election strategy, his campaign staff and close advisers have apparently had enough — pushing for sudden and sweeping major changes.
With the average of polls showing rival Hillary Clinton ahead six percentage points less than a month before the GOP convention in Cleveland, embattled Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has been fired.
“The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican Primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign,” the campaign spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, said in a statement, according to the New York Times. “The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.”
According to NBC News, Trump called Lewandowski this morning to inform him of his firing after an emergency meeting with family members and top advisers to right the ship, and to plot a more serious campaign strategy.
The announcement comes hours after an explosive GQ profile of Hicks revealed disturbing incidents of alleged abuse directed at the 27-year-old national press secretary from Lewandowski.
“You made a big f***ing mistake; you’re f***ing dead to me,” Lewandowski allegedly told Hicks after she expressed interest in leaving the campaign recently, bringing her to tears, according to former Trump operative Sam Nunberg.
While Lewandowski denied GQ’s reporting, the hotheaded campaign manager, of course, first grabbed the spotlight away from his boss when he was arrested for yanking a female Breitbart writer, an act he denied happened but was caught on camera. While the charges were eventually dropped, Trump remained loyal and committed to Lewandowski even as reports emerged that Lewandowski had a history of making abusive, sexist, and sexual remarks to his female coworkers.

EU Migrant Laws: Change in EU migrant law stirs xenophobia
Fears that Eastern European workers will flood the EU labour market are unfounded, experts say, as nine European countries are set to lift all remaining curbs on migrants from Bulgaria and Romania on January 1.
The decision to remove the restrictions in countries including Germany, Britain, France and the Netherlands raised fears that an influx of workers would overwhelm social security systems and schools, while these countries are still recovering from recession.
However, employment agencies from Romania, as well as surveys and anecdotal evidence from the poorest EU states, suggested that any new arrivals will slowly trickle in.
"The ones who wanted to leave have already left," Adriana Lorga, director of the employment agency in Giurgiu, a deprived town in southern Romania, told AFP news agency.
But the issue of lifting restrictions is still a sensitive one in many EU countries.
The British government recently rushed through legislation that will restrict EU migrants from claiming unemployment handouts as the country braces for what it estimates to be 30,000 to 70,000 Bulgarian and Romanian migrants per year.
"Britain will not be invaded by Romanians and Bulgarians", Simina, a student at the Bucharest University of Economics and Cybernetics, told AFP news agency.
"We would go to Western Europe to study but we do not want to settle there, especially as we see the discriminating comments against us," she said.
