On Thursday, responding the the stock trading mobile app Robinhood blocking retail investors from buying surging stocks like GameStop, AMC, Bed Bath & Beyond, BlackBerry, and Nokia, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called for an investigation into the transparent manipulation of the stock market by hedge funds. On Twitter she wrote, “This is unacceptable. We now need to know more about @RobinhoodApp’s decision to block retail investors from purchasing stock while hedge funds are freely able to trade the stock as they see fit. As a member of the Financial Services Cmte [sic], I’d support a hearing if necessary.”
The always craven and opportunistic political Renfield Sen. Ted Cruz decided to retweet Ocasio-Cortez’s statement and add “Fully agree.” Blech! Rep. Ocasio-Cortez isn’t going to allow this disingenuous piece of human detritus play pretend Mother Theresa, so she replied: “I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out. Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign.” Boom.

USA: The Republican National Convention 2016: Donald Trump-Ted Cruz Feud Flares Anew - Ron Elving - :
For all those who view the nominating conventions of the major parties as overly scripted, predictable and boring, Wednesday night's session of the Republican National Convention came as a jolt.
The third night of this extravaganza had all the usual hoopla — plus a blackout on the jumbo screens, delegates screaming at each other and a major presidential candidate getting booed off the stage.
Not since the parties and their nominees began carefully scripting these quadrennial affairs a generation ago have we seen such an outburst of dueling egos and counterproductive emotion.
Did we say we wanted more sense of drama? Imagine two famous actors involved in a climactic scene, each fired with his own ambition and working furiously to upstage the other. Now envision such a clash playing out before thousands of delegates and onlookers and millions of TV viewers and voters.
Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, the first- and second-place finishers in the GOP's primaries and caucuses, went at it once more with the whole world watching. The high-stakes of their brinkmanship brought to the flashpoint all the anger and tension pent up in this convention over three days — and in this party over several decades.
It also overshadowed a sturdy performance later in the evening by the party's now-official vice presidential candidate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who displayed the earnest brand of classic conservatism for which he is known.
But neither Pence's speech nor Trump's own controversial remarks about NATO, released by The New York Times after the convention ended, could displace the headlines about the Trump-Cruz feud.
Cruz stole the show by refusing to endorse the party's now-official champion, who had allowed him a prime-time speaking spot on the night of Pence's acceptance speech (and on the eve of Trump's own). That sent everyone scrambling to history books for a precedent.

US Politics: What Every Republican Gets Wrong About Immigration
In
his hot pink tie and starched white shirt, Ted Cruz
strolled
through the palm tree-flanked Border Patrol station of Edinburg, Texas, this
week, before taking his place at a wood podium to caution his audience about the
threat illegal immigrants
pose to the Land of the Free
.
Standing on the glistening grassy lawn, the Texas Republican warned
that cartels controlled the area, and said more "boots on the
ground" were the only way to stop the flood of migrants streaming in
from
Latin America. "It's
important for every presidential candidate to address seriously the
problem of
securing our border and to have a serious plan and to demonstrate a
willingness
to enforce the law," said Cruz,
who just happens to be one of those
candidates.

"One
hears from the ground that the security threats remain significant and that we
need adequate manpower, adequate tools to secure our border and protect our
nation," he told
reporters who'd gathered for his visit to the small

Two men are about to make a star turn in the American media, and
their ascensions couldn’t come at a more appropriate time. Just as Ted
Cruz is running for the Republican Presidential nomination, his
potential alternate self Tom Cruise is facing the release of a new Scientology documentary this weekend that
will call him out. As both men prepare to have their personal lives
analyzed by the national public, we hope they might find solace in one
another’s struggles and triumphs. After all, with such similar names, how different could Tom Cruise and Ted Cruz be?
While the two men may have their differences, their kindred souls are more than apparent when the facts are examined. It’s true that Cruise is 52 and Cruz is eight years younger, at 44, but they are stunningly similar public figures: both have controversial political, scientific, and religious beliefs that have put them at the center of debates about ethics, morality, and truth.
Both are leading figures who have captured the American imaginary and will no doubt continue to be featured in newspapers and tabloid magazines alike for years to come.
