The play 'Eurovision' also refers to Europe's difficulty in defining itself as underscored by the failure to reach an agreement on the text of its first-ever constitution and the lack of consensus over Turkey's bid to join the European Union

Europe's ongoing identity crisis is the unlikely subject of a new play inspired by the kitschy Eurovision Song Contest, and delivered in 35 European languages, which opened in the Portuguese capital earlier this month.
Producers of the two-man 'Eurovision,' based on excerpts of dozens of works by major European literary figures as well as lyrics from songs performed at the annual contest, will take the show to London in May and possibly other European stages later this year."
