This is the land of Helen of Troy, Alexander the Great, Constantine and the Ottoman Empire. Its boundaries hold the remains of castles, ancient battlegrounds, remnants of the Roman Empire and the palaces of some of the grandest dynasties in the world's history.
Straddling both Europe and Asia and surrounded by the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black seas. ( Picture insert: Ephesus) Turkey is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the world.
It is also arguably the holiest site on the planet outside of Israel.
