The poll was conducted between last Friday and Tuesday, a few days after Rick Santorum suspended his campaign,making Romney the presumptive nominee to take on the president in the fall.
The poll shows that 46% of registered voters support Obama, while as many prefer Romney. Last month’s Times/CBS News poll also showed a close race, with 47% supporting Obama and 44% supporting Romney.
When Pew Research Center poll released on April 17, found that Obama narrowly leading Romney, 49% to 45%.
