International Travel: Vaccinated Travelers Face Chaos and Confusion - by Stephen Hiltner

More than 105 million people in the United States are fully vaccinated. Greece, Iceland and Croatia, among a growing list of countries, are now open to American tourists. Airlines are resuming overseas flights. And perhaps the biggest development of all: Come summer, fully vaccinated Americans will once again be welcome across Europe.

But the optimism may be premature. At the moment, the broader reality is more chaotic, and more sobering.<

International passenger traffic down 89% in February, no sign of recovery: IATA

Global airline industry body IATA said international passenger traffic plunged 89% in February compared to the same month last year as COVID-19 infections climbed once more, and there was no sign of an aviation recovery yet.

International passenger traffic was down almost 89% and is showing no signs of recovery in the current environment,” IATA’s new director general Willie Walsh said at a presentation on Wednesday.

International travel -Vaccine Requirements: International travellers may need COVID-19 vaccines before they can board some airlines

International air travel could come booming back next year but with a new rule: travellers to certain countries must be vaccinated against the coronavirus before they can fly.

Encouraging news about vaccine development has given airlines and nations hope they may soon be able to revive suspended flight routes and dust off lucrative tourism plans. But countries in Asia and the Pacific, in particular, are determined not to let their hard-won gains against the virus evaporate.
