USA: Voters Give Thumbs Down to GOP-Led Congress
Voters including members of their own party aren’t pleased with the
Republicans’ control of both chambers of Congress this past year.
Just 10% of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress’ performance is better now that both the House of Representatives and the Senate are run by the GOP. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 47% think congressional performance is worse, while 37% rate it as about the same as it has been in the past. It’s understandable that 70% of Democrats think Congress is doing a worse job, but 22% of Republicans and a plurality (46%) of voters not affiliated with either major party agree. Only 19% of GOP voters think the Republican-controlled Congress is doing a better job than when Democrats controlled at least one of the chambers.

US Political Scene: Poll shows voters say its high time for a third major political party
A sizable number of voters think it’s time for a major new political
party because Republicans and Democrats aren’t getting the job done.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 38% of Likely U.S. Voters agree that Republicans and Democrats are so much alike that an entirely new party is needed to represent the American people.
That’s up six points from 32% five years ago. A plurality (47%) still disagrees, but most voters (54%) felt that way in April 2010. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

USA: Poll Shows 52% Think It’s Good NSA Domestic Spying Was Exposed, 23% Disagree
Most voters think it’s good that Edward Snowden revealed the National Security Agency’s secret domestic surveillance program, but they’re still not sure if he’s a hero or a villain.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters think it is good for the nation that the American people know more about the NSA surveillance program. Just 23% feel it’s bad for the country, but 25% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 2, 2013 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
