Rioting aliens will be booted out of France (finally)
FOREIGNERS convicted of involvement in two weeks of rioting are to be expelled from France. The order from hardline interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy covers both illegal immigrants and those previously given permission to stay.
Sarkozy said 122 foreigners were among hundreds convicted of playing a role in unrest in the past two weeks. He said he had asked local government officials to expel them "without delay".
Of those in France legally, he said: "When one has the honour of having a residency permit, the least one can say is that one shouldn't be going around getting arrested for provoking urban violence." Yesterday France saw only sporadic violence two weeks after riots began. It was finally diminished by curfews and other emergency measures.
