European Union replaces US as top buyer of Indian marine products
The anti-dumping duty imposed by the US on the Indian seafood export seems to have worked to the advantage of European Union. European Union has emerged as the largest buyer of Indian marine products for the first six months of the year overtaking the US, which was holding sway at the top for the last two years. According to A J Tharakan, President of Seafood Exporters Association of India, Europe, traditionally an importer of squids and cuttle fish, has started to buy more shrimps particularly the head-on variety.
