Austria wants progress on Serbia in EU presidency
Austria wants to help conclude talks on closer ties between the European Union and Serbia and Montenegro when it takes over the EU presidency during the first half of next year, it said in an outline of its plans. But it seems to have no big ambitions to revive the planned EU constitution, in limbo since it failed in referendums in France and the Netherlands last year, according to the foreign ministry's White Paper, obtained by Reuters on Thursday. "The western Balkans will be a special focus of the Austrian EU presidency," said the 121-item confidential White Paper, dated Oct. 19. "The negotiations about a Stabilisation and Association Agreement will continue in this period.
