Europe to invest $3 billion in embedded program by Jean-Pierre Joosting
BRUSSELS, Belgium — Artemis, a research program partially funded by the European Union and featuring Europe’s top chip and systems companies, is expected to spend 2.7 billion euros (about $3.25 billion) in research between 2007 and 2010, officials said Monday (March 6).
Artemis, which stands for “Advanced Research and Technology for Embedded Intelligence and Systems," is expected to last up to a decade. In addition to government- and EU-backed research, efforts are underway to tap into venture capital funds and private-public funding initiatives to support research and its commercialization.
