Airlines: EU seeks disclosure of charges
BRUSSELS, Belgium - (AP) -- The European Commission will demand today that airlines start spelling out all the extra charges customers pay when they book a fare, an EU official and media reports said Monday. The Commission will insist that airline ads and websites list all the charges they impose -- including credit card charges, government taxes, fuel surcharges and extra baggage fees, the Financial Times reported Monday. Major carriers are just as guilty of this as some low-cost airlines, said EU spokesman Stefaan de Rynck. ''It's a worrying practice,'' he said.
