Qantas in first US test of A380
Qantas will play a major role in the historic first test flight in the US of the world’s largest passenger plane. An Airbus A380 with Qantas flight crew is scheduled to land at Los Angeles on March 19 in front of an expected crowd of 100,000 aviation enthusiasts. Also on March 19 in another test flight, a second Airbus A380 will touch down at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport.
The A380, which is eight storeys high and has a wingspan almost as long as a football field, will become a key component of Qantas’s fleet next year when the Australian airline expects to begin commercial flights with the plane.
