EU Set to Cut Mobile Phone Roaming Fees - by Peter Zschunke
European Union telecommunications ministers agreed on a plan in principle to cut mobile phone roaming fees, officials said Thursday, with the likelihood of lower prices by the end of spring. "We are very confident that we can come to a solution," said German Economy Minister Michael Glos. Glos said action was needed given the level of roaming charges, the fees mobile phone companies charge customers for using their phone in another EU country.
"We don't want to abolish competition among the operators, but we want to encourage it," he added.
