U.S., Europe reversing forest loss
When it comes to reversing losses in the world's forests, the United States and much of Europe are doing the job, but developing countries continue to cut down their trees. That assessment comes from the Rome-based UN Food and Agriculture Organization. In a biannual report on the State of the World's Forests, the agency said the U.S. and much of Europe have reversed years of deforestation and have actually increased wooded areas.
But the same can't be said about developing countries. The report said the problem is particularly bad in Africa, Latin American and the Caribbean.
