Serbia's Exit Festival - From rebels to revels - Rahul Verma
What makes a good festival? Most of us would cite location, music, people, atmosphere, cost and weather – not necessarily in that order. In those terms, you'd be hard-pushed to beat Serbia's Exit festival next month in Novi Sad. The setting is spectacular: a sprawling 17th-century citadel on the banks of the blue-green Danube. The Petrovaradin Fortress, which took nearly 90 years to build, cost the lives of 1,000 slaves, thieves and murderers – and welcomes 150,000-festival-goers to 25 stages over four nights.
