Boeing - Further Delays 787 Dreamliner Program
Boeing Co. (BA) announced a further delay in its troubled 787 Dreamliner program, postponing the first flight to the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first deliveries to the third quarter of 2009. The most recent schedule announced in January for the first flight was the second quarter of 2008 and first quarter of 2009 for the first delivery. However, Boeing noted that it backs its earnings forecast for fiscal 2008, even though research and development costs are likely to take a heavy toll as a result of the 787 schedule change. The Chicago, Illinois-based airliner said that it has postponed its first flight to the fourth quarter of 2008 and the first delivery is rescheduled to the third quarter of 2009. The first delivery of the 787 Dreamliner will be made to Japan's All Nippon Airways Co. Buyers are likely to seek compensation for the delays.
