Officials in South Florida are increasing security at airports, seaports and other special events held this week in the wake of the deadly attacks in the Boston Marathon.
PortMiami and Port Everglades are on high alert and have extra security. Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport are also stepping up security.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office said they are focusing on high security, and are asking the public and their deputies to be on the lookout. "This is a time where we truly have to partner with our community and make sure we are on the same page, and work together," said Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
The Miami Heat basketball team will play their final home game of the regular season at the American Airlines Arena Wednesday night. Officials will be in full force at the game to take extra precautions.
