De Haan made the remarks during the visit of members of the Dutch Parliament Foreign Affairs Commission to the Turkish Parliament Human Rights Commission chaired by Mehmet Elkatmis.
De Haan commented that relations between Turkey and the Netherlands should continue to develop and said that the Dutch Parliament has been working to support Turkey's EU membership.
"All the political problems will be overcome with the good will that will be put forward by the two sides," he added.
Elkatmis, for his part, stated that bilateral relations between Turkey and the Netherlands have continued since the 17th century and said that some 400,000 Turks live in the Netherlands and more than half of them have become Dutch citizens. Touching upon the trade volume between the two countries, Elkatmis said that the total volume is beyond $4 billion and that some 450 Dutch companies have been making investments in Turkey.
