BRUSSELS, Belgium (UPI) -- If U.S. President George W. Bush ever gets five minutes to flick through the German Marshall Fund of the United States` latest Transatlantic Trends survey, which was published Tuesday, he could be forgiven for wondering what more he has to do to win over a hostile European public to his cause.
Since his re-election in November, Bush has gone out of his way to improve transatlantic relations damaged by the divisive war in Iraq. He traveled to Europe three times in the first six months of his second term, becoming the first U.S. president to visit the EU`s headquarters in Brussels. He has worked hand in hand with European leaders to defuse crises in Ukraine, Iran and Lebanon and sent his cabinet to Union capitals to woo skeptical European governments."
