"Citizens still give EU green light
Europe’s constitution crisis has not dampened strong public support for the EU, finds a new opinion survey.
New polling suggests that Europe’s citizens have not turned away from the EU after the two failed European constitution votes in France and the Netherlands.
Sixty seven per cent of Europeans – from a poll conducted in nine member states - said they had strong positive feelings towards the EU, down only slightly from 70 per cent in 2004.
The figures will be seen as a green light by EU leaders contemplating Europe’s future during their ‘period of reflection’ called for after the two failed votes."
