STRASBOURG (AFX) - The head of the European Parliament's socialist bloc, Martin Schulz, said after lunching with British prime minister Tony Blair that the UK will not agree to cut its EU budget rebate further. Asked whether he thought that the UK, which holds the rotating EU presidency, would be willing to give up more of its budget rebate, Schulz said: 'No, I cannot imagine.' After his meal with party leaders, Blair was scheduled to travel to Brussels to host a two-day summit of EU leaders that will be dominated by haggling over the bloc's 2007-2013 budget.
