A glance at flight disruptions due to volcanic ash

Eurocontrol expects flight disruptions around four points in European airspace on Sunday: an ash cloud is lingering over northwestern Scotland and a finger stretches into northwestern Spain and Portugal. An isolated cloud is affecting southern France and northern Switzerland, while another hangs over southern Switzerland, northern Italy, southern Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria. A glance at the disruptions:

Spain: Northwestern airports Santiago, A Coruna and Vigo to reopen at 5 p.m. (1500 GMT). Flights at inland northern airports of Asturias, Bilbao, Valladolid, Leon and Burgos discontinued at 4 p.m. (1400 GMT), joining already closed Salamanca. All other Spanish airports are operating normally.

Portugal: Porto, Portugal's second-largest city, is to remain closed 7 p.m. (2000 GMT). Portuguese airports cancelled 223 flights, including 119 at northern Porto and 71 at Lisbon. Faro airport in the south was operating normally.
