How is it possible that the US is not able to do better than the European Union, given that the EU is far more loosely united than the US and has many more political parties.
Nevertheless, the EU has been able to successfully institute austerity programs which are working and bearing fruit, locked-up right-wing extremists in Greece, brought the corrupt Berlusconi to his knees in Italy, and instituted strong control mechanisms on banks. They also have a far lower overall deficit than the US.
The longer the political standoff in the US Congress persists, the greater the risk there is to U.S. economic growth. Making matters worse, it seems the U.S. Congress’s actions are sowing the seeds of a debt-ceiling crisis.
Uncle Sam’s ability to pay its debts could be in doubt if lawmakers don’t raise the limit on US federal borrowing soon. This would certainly put the US at risk of defaulting on some of its legal and international obligations.
How come Mr. Boehner is not able to control his Tea party Republicans, who basically seem to live in a fantasy world and have one major objective, the resignation and/or failure of Barack Obama. They also don't seem/want to understand that the Obamacare program will not be cancelled or delayed because it is on the books as a US law and even sanctioned by the US Supreme court.
Anyway quite a worrisome situation looking at it from here, hopefully it's mainly theatrics?
