World Popularity Poll: Germany most positively viewed nation

In a poll published today by the BBC Iran is the country ranked as having the most negative influence in the world.

The Islamic Republic was followed by North Korea and Pakistan in the survey of negative and positive views of people in 27 countries based on events in 2010. Israel was ranked as the fourth most unpopular country.

Germany was the most positively viewed nation. Second was Britain. Third-placed in the poll was Canada, followed by Japan, France and Brazil. The US came seventh ahead of China, South Africa and India.

A total of 28,619 people were interviewed face-to-face or by telephone in December last year and on February 4 this year.
