Google's Blogger lost a lot of credibility these past days. It went dead for the past 38 hours and very few people knew or were told what was happening. The Blogger Status blog, which is itself hosted on the Blogger platform, had not been updated since Monday. The most recent post read, "Blogger will go into read-only mode Wednesday (5/11) 10:00PM PST for about an hour for maintenance". Anyway 36 hours later Blogger is back on, at least if you can call it so?
In order not to lose valuable archived material many blogs, like EU-Digest, which in the past were using their own servers, and blogged via Googles Blogger through an FTP connection, had been practically forced by Google to transfer their blogs to a free Google owned site called Blogspot. This after Blogger discontinued its FTP services. So far this change was not an easy ride, with frequent interruptions, technical problems and very little support.
The first damage indication of this recent interruption is a loss of all posted May 12 material. We apologize to all the readers of EU-Digest for the inconvenience this might have caused.
