Bulgaria's economy is expected to grow by about 1.8 percent in 2013, accelerating from 1.4 percent forecasted for this year, Finance Minister Simeon Djankov said Monday.
"More than half of the countries in the EU are in recession but Bulgaria is not one of them," Djankov was cited by the state BTA news agency as saying in the Black Sea city of Varna.
Gross domestic product in export-dependent Bulgaria plunged 5.0 percent in 2009 following the global financial crisis, followed by a modest 0.4-percent expansion in 2010 and a 1.7-percent rise in GDP in 2011.
The national statistics institute is due to release Tuesday its second quarter GDP flash estimate. In the first quarter data showed stagnation compared to the last three months of 2011.
