The leaders of Serbia and Kosovo have met face-to-face under the auspices of the European Union's top diplomat, the first time a top-level encounter has taken place since Kosovo's contested independence declaration in 2008.
The encounter between new Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovan Prime Minister Hashim Thaci marked a major step in a traditionally acrimonious relationship.
"We agreed to continue the dialogue for the normalisation of relations between the two sides and both committed to working together. We will meet again soon," EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said after sitting in on the "good and constructive" meeting.
