The 14th International Accordion Festival. Some 40 concerts on 14 stages will feature internationally renowned artists such as Norway's Guro von Germeten and the Schwindelfrei Orchestra, French group Bratsch, Anglo-French group Blowzabella and Argentina's Melingo, as well as local stars Willi Resetarits and his Stubnblues. Another highlight will be a series of silent film matinees, including F.W. Murnau's 1922 classic "Nosferatu" and a Laurel and Hardy special, with live accordion accompaniment. Until March 24.

Elisabeth," the biggest German-language musical hit ever based on the story of the Austrian Empress Sisi, returns to Vienna for its 20th anniversary with daily performances (except Mondays) at the Raimund Theater.

The show, which retraces the life and tragic end of the iconic 19th century empress, was originally produced in 1992 and has since gone around the world, playing to some 8.5 million people as far as Japan and South Korea. 



Amsterdam commemorates 400 years of its famous Canal Ring, with festivities including a "24H" event, in which everything from ballet studios to movie houses, community centres and cafes will remain open through the night. Celebrations kicked off on the night of January 12-13, with a program of exhibitions, concerts, parades and sporting events running through 2013.
