Airbus Challenges Boeing sgain with upgraded wide bodies planes

Wide body Airbus Aircraft
In an interview with Financial Times, Airbus CEO Fabrice BrĂ©gier remarked that, after improvements, the Airbus A330 will be positioned to compete with Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner and the 777X series.

Deliveries of Boeing’s 777X series are not expected before 2020; however, considerable orders have already been placed for the aircraft.

Despite successful deliveries of over 1,300 A330 aircraft since 1994, Airbus feels it now needs to change its design. Only 250 orders for the aircraft are still pending in Airbus’s backlog. Moreover, Airbus’s A380 superjumbo program is expected to only break even by next year; therefore, though it has secured only a small number of orders for the A380, Airbus is no hurry to modify the superjumbo’s design any time before 2020.
