Denmark: Copenhagen shootings: manhunt after killings at cafe and synagogue

One killed and six wounded when Østerbro cafe was peppered with bullets, with further fatal shooting at synagogue in Danish capital.

A manhunt was under way in Copenhagen after a man was shot dead at a cafe hosting a freedom of speech debate, followed by a further fatal shooting at a synagogue.

Witnesses described scores of bullets ripping through the window of the Krudttønden cafe in Østerbro, near the centre of the city, shortly after 3.30pm, with a suspect fleeing by car after what was said to be an attempt to murder Vilks.

Then on Sunday night a man was fatally shot at a synagogue in the centre of the Danish capital, police said. Two police officers were also hit and had injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

According to the press release linked in that tweet, police have had an address in Nørrebro under surveillance. Around 5am (approximately one hour ago) a person of interest arrived at the address, was hailed by police and opened fire. He was shot and killed. No police officers were hit.

Police are investigating whether the man they shot was behind both attacks in Copenhagen on Saturday. They have no further information. A press conference in scheduled for four hours’ time.
