Britain,Saudi Arabia agree on 19 billion-dollar Eurofighter deal
Britain and Saudi Arabia have reached an agreement on a 10 billion pounds (19 billion U.S. dollars) deal to replace a Saudi fleet of Tornado jets with new Eurofighter Typhoons. The initial document of understanding between Britain and Saudi Arabia, which was signed in December 2005, was seen as a key moment for Eurofighter as it was the first contract for the jets, outside Europe.
The jet is developed by a consortium of companies in Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy and is competing against the U.S.-made Joint Strike Fighter.
