OECD report urges bolder economic reforms
Eurozone governments should use Europe's economic upswing to hasten the pace of economic reforms, says a new survey by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
More flexibility in the job market and boosting competition in protected economic sectors (such as services) are the key suggestions put forward by the Paris-based OECD in its latest review of the eurozone's economies. Although the international organisation sees signs of recovery, it warns that governments should use the opportunity to continue and speed up structural reforms.
Germany is the only country pursuing ambitious budget cuts, according to Jean-Philippe Cotis, OECD's chief economist.
