Estonia's parliament has passed a bill on the dismantling of banned structures, which requires that the monument for the soldiers who liberated Tallinn from the Nazis be removed from the center of Tallinn within 30 days.
The bill was passed in its third and final reading and was backed by 46 of the 101 deputies, with 44 against and no abstentions. The remaining deputies did not take part in the vote. The bill deems "banned" "structures as those glorifying the occupation of the Estonian republic and massive reprisals in Estonia, which jeopardized the life, health and property of citizens and those which incite enmity and breach of the public peace."
It lists the monument for the Soviet Soldier-Liberator of Tallinn from fascism among the monuments, which the government will have to remove from the center of the Estonian capital within 30 days following the enforcement of the law.
