Remember Dad on Father's Day - by Mark Kinsler

My father's ashes repose on our office shelf in an eight-inch cubical gray particle-board box that the cremation society was pleased to call an urn. He was above all an accomplished woodworker, and wouldn't have been pleased with the craftsmanship of his final resting place.

And now I've got to figure out what to do with him, for Natalie, always concerned with symbolism and appropriateness, doesn't think it's proper for anyone's earthly remains to be stored with old hard drives and extension cords. It's a difficult task because he was a difficult man, and I've been avoiding it since he came here to stay six years ago.
